Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 39 runs in the opening match of the tri-series T20I series with the help of Haris Rauf's four wickets.

Pakistan's bowlers took five wickets for just four runs to defeat Afghanistan by 39 runs in the opening match of the UAE tri-series T20I series on Friday.
In the match played in Sharjah, Pakistan won the toss and batted first and scored 182 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs with the help of captain Salman Ali Agha's unbeaten 53 runs.
Salman hit three fours and three sixes in 36 balls. In the last overs of the innings, Faheem Ashraf scored 14 runs in just five balls to take the score beyond 180.
At the beginning of the innings, opener Sahibzada Farhan batted at a blistering pace of 21 runs in 10 balls, but he was caught out by Azmatullah Umarzai in the third over.
Saim Ayub (16 runs) and Fakhar Zaman (20 runs) also failed to convert a good start into a big innings.
Pakistan faced some difficulties at 83/4 in the 12th over. However, Muhammad Nawaz's 21 runs in 11 balls and the Salman Agha-Faheem Ashraf partnership brought the team back.
Hassan Nawaz Nu and Mohammad Haris were dismissed for 15 runs.

For Afghanistan, Fareed Ahmed took two wickets while Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah and Mujeeb ur Rehman took one wicket each.
Chasing 183 runs, Afghanistan suffered their first loss in the form of Ibrahim Zardari when he was bowled by Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi in the third over for a total of 17.
On the occasion, Rahmanullah Gurbaz not only hit outside the boundary to relieve the pressure but also managed to take some extra singles against slow fielding.
He and Siddiqullah Atul took the score to 68, but in the eighth over, Gurbaz (38 runs) was bowled while sweeping Mohammad Nawaz.
Afghanistan suffered a major setback in the 12th over when Haris Rauf bowled a maiden over for a total of 93, sending two batters Atul and Karim Janat to the pavilion.
On the first ball of the next over, Sufyan Muqeem took a brilliant catch of Darwish Rasuli. After two more wickets fell to 97, Afghanistan's comeback in the match became impossible.
The entire Afghanistan team was bowled out for 143 runs in 20 overs.
Haris was outstanding with four wickets for 14 runs. Afridi, Sufyan and Nawaz took two wickets each. Pakistan will now play their next match against UAE on Saturday.
